Washington Heights Graffiti Initiative

New York State Senator Eric T. Schneiderman announced and launched his anti graffiti initiative at a press conference on 182nd Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue. The initiative was funded through the Senator’s office and will focus on removing graffiti from commercial storefront gates along St. Nicholas Avenue between the streets of 170th and 186 Street. The press conference was widely supported and well attended by community partners, supporters and others, they are from left to right: Ydannis Rodriguez, Rita Katerman, Washington Heights Inwood Chamber of Commerce, Deputy Inspector Andrew Capul (back left), Commanding Officer 34th Precinct, New York State Assembly member Adriano Espiallat, New York State Senator Eric T. Schneiderman, George Sanchez, Executive Director, Washington Heights Business Improvement District. This project will commence this evening and is expected to continue through the end of this year. "As a property owner in Washington Heights and as Chairman of our Business Improvement District, I want to create a pleasant and attractive environment for the residents, visitors and shoppers that frequent our area. I applaud the leadership of Senator Schniederman and commend him on his efforts to bring this program to Washington Heights and in making this project a proactive approach to addressing the problem of unsightly graffiti in our beautiful community. The Senator will have, both my personal support and cooperation and that of the Washington Heights Business Improvement District"
